We hope you are having a wonderful summer! We wanted to remind you to mark your calendars for the start of the 2026–2027 school year. 

Henrico County Public Schools is introducing a new staggered First Day schedule to help make the transition to elementary school smoother for our incoming Pre-K & Kindergarten students. 

This staggered start gives our youngest learners an opportunity to become familiar with the school building, classroom routines, and daily expectations before all students attend together.

• First day for New Kindergarten students (that did not attend Pre-School at HSES during the 25-26 school year)

• First day for students in grades 1–5

• First day of school for 26-27 Pre-K students  (Student's Last Name M - Z)

• First day for the second half Kindergarten students (Student's that attended Pre-k at HSES)

• All students in grades 1–5
