HSES Classroom Parties/Party Invitations

Henrico County School Board Policy discourages distribution of treats to celebrate special occasions, and individual parties are not allowed.  Due to students with food allergies & a national focus on healthy snacks, cupcakes & treats can no longer be brought in for birthdays. Please discuss an alternative with your child’s teacher such as goodie bags with stickers, pencils, etc.. Room parents will plan several classroom occasions throughout the year. Students are not to distribute party invitations at school, unless every member of the class is invited.

P6-12-007 Parties and Dance

Elementary schools will be allowed one social function on school time during the school year, provided that the party must be held during the last part of the day and total time taken be limited to one hour, including cleaning time.

The distribution of treats to celebrate special occasions should be discouraged. Any exception must have prior approval of the principal. When treats are provided, caution must be exercised to insure that instructional time is not infringed upon.
