Dear Achievable Dream Certified Academy at Highland Springs Elementary School Family,
It is with great pleasure that I write this letter to you as the incoming principal of Achievable Dream Certified Academy at Highland Springs Elementary School. It is truly an honor to become a part of the community. Even though I have only had limited interactions with the faculty and parents thus far, I can already tell that this is a unique and special place that I am incredibly excited to become a part of.
I come to you with 17 years of experience as an educator and most recently I have served as Principal at Woodville Elementary School in Richmond Public Schools. I have already spent time working with Dr. Tolliver to ensure a smooth transition and after working with her I know I have some incredibly big shoes to fill but I promise I will give you my ALL.
This summer, I plan to spend much of my time engaging with staff, students, and the community to learn all I can about my new school community. I will get to know our building, our community, and familiarize myself with the unique needs of our school. I believe wholeheartedly that every student deserves a quality education and that only happens when the school and the families work together for the best interests of our children. With that in mind I will be encouraging all stakeholders to work as a singular unit so we can best serve our children.
I am truly honored to be given this opportunity and look forward to immersing myself completely in our school and in our community. I believe my main responsibility is to put our teachers in the best possible position to succeed, as they will in turn put our children in the best possible position to succeed. I look forward to meeting all of you and please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or ideas you would like to share via email smwashingto1@henrico.k12.va.us or contact me at the school 804-328-4045.
Best Regards,
Shannon M. Washington
Principal
