Response to Intervention – RtI

This school year, Highland Springs Elementary School continues to pilot a review process called Response to Intervention to monitor student success, so we no longer hold Child Study meetings. The Child Study process used in the past was a problem solving model; we now use an intervention model. We meet as an Intervention Team whenever a student is not making progress (based on data collection and assessment scores). We view parents as important partners, and the Intervention Team convenes after parent/teacher meetings have occurred and various strategies have been employed without student success.

If, however, you suspect your child has a disability that requires special education services, we may meet as an Eligibility Team. The decision to evaluate a student is a team decision and one that is made at the Eligibility Team meeting.

For further information, contact our Nicky Gil, Associate Principal or Molly Guerrant, School Counselor.
